How to spend Valentine's Day on a budget

You know that Valentine's Day is extremely commercialised, what with the chocolates and flowers and three-foot tall cards. But that doesn't change a thing. We're still suckers for love (or rather excuses to celebrate it)!

That's why we think you should ditch the commercialised V-Day junk and make this Valentine's Day extra special for both of you without spending too much.

Take a look at our tips. We guarantee he'll love them.

A fancy evening 'in'

Last Valentine's, he cleaned up real nice, took you to your favourite romantic restaurant, spent a bomb and you thought the world of it. This year, do things a little differently.

Dress up like you were going out to a really swanky place. Wear that sexy little black dress (the one that makes him go weak in the knees). Dim the lights and dance to some romantic music. Woo him all over again with an exotic candle-lit dinner except this time it will be cooked by you at your place!

If you are wondering about the menu, we suggest you take a look at our Foods for Sex so you get him in the mood ;)

A mid-night stand!

Take a long late night drive to nowhere. Turn up the volume of the car stereo and blast all your favourite mushy numbers. Then pull up on the side of the road (somewhere deserted), cosy up to him and… get it on!

If sex in the car is not your thing, try some of these Unusual Places to Have Sex at Home! It's bound to spice things up.

Love IOUs

You know how IOUs work. The only difference is you will write them out to your partner. Include romantic things like a back massage, a batch of yummy chocolate chip cookies baked by you, breakfast in bed, a sexy night at home (without the kids) on the customised love coupons. Tell your partner he can redeem them anytime all month long!

For more IOU ideas, check out our Love and Sex Calendar that will help you surprise him everyday!

The thought counts

Anyone can go out and pick up a box of candy hearts for your beau. So what are you doing that for? Think of something unique for a change. Make a collage of photos that capture your special moments together. Add to that love notes or poems, tiny mementos that remind him of the good times and more.

Not thrilled with that? We've got some more inexpensive but thoughtful Gift Ideas for Him.

Movie marathon

Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday which means extra lazing around in bed, of course! Spend all day in your PJs watching romantic movies. And if you are wondering whether he'll get turned off with a bunch of mushy flicks, well, we've got a few suggestions. Skip movies like Titanic, Casabanca and Gone with the Wind and go for the movies he will like - 50 First Dates, Shallow Hal, Sweet Home Alabama or There's Something About Mary. He'll love watching them with you.

Alternatively, you could also check out our sun sign guide to know What Movies He'll Like!

So all you have to do this Valentine's is use your imagination and you won't have to shell out too much!
